In addition to tactics like insulting <a href=\"https:\/\/muslimmatters.org\/2022\/11\/08\/dirty-dawah-part-1-insult-in-the-name-of-islam\/\">[see Dirty Da&#8217;wah Part 1 ]<\/a> and manufacturing controversy, the production of &#8220;Satisfying&#8221; videos directed at Muslim audiences is Part 2 of this series on what&#8217;s rotten in the Muslim internet.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The word <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/muslimmatters.org\/2017\/01\/06\/dawah-in-the-21st-century-taking-lessons-from-the-messenger-%EF%B7%BA\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>da\u2019wah<\/em> stems from the verb for invitation or calling in Arabic<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0 The term <em>da\u2019ee<\/em> refers to those who call others to Islam, whether they be Muslim or not. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A large amount of this \u201csatisfying\u201d content seems directed towards feelings of anger and helplessness in its Muslim audience. After all, the world is a cruel and difficult place for Muslims. How can we not feel angry when people insult our religion, misrepresent our Prophet \ufdfa, curse our Lord and oppress our family in faith?\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When even the Prophet <\/span>\ufdfa <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">sought comfort and consolation in hard times, it makes sense that we too seek to satisfy some sense of justice or comfort. The problem with this content is <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">how<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> it seeks to provide it- i.e. at the direct expense of others.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-85391 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/muslimmatters.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Satisfying-Hilarious-Entertainment.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"690\" height=\"207\" srcset=\"https:\/\/muslimmatters.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Satisfying-Hilarious-Entertainment.png 690w, https:\/\/muslimmatters.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Satisfying-Hilarious-Entertainment-300x90.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Often labeled &#8220;hilarious&#8221; or &#8220;entertaining,&#8221; videos like these allow the viewer to have a laugh at the non-Muslim getting &#8220;crushed,&#8221; &#8220;destroyed,&#8221; or &#8220;dismantled&#8221; by the da&#8217;ee.\u00a0 Many of them suggest a level of payback for the indignities suffered by the Muslim community, and in doing so, give their viewers a vicarious sense of justice served.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Seeking justice is an important cause for the entire Ummah, and until all of us are safe, the rest of us should remain restless for their cause. However, videos like these don&#8217;t serve justice as much as they dish out revenge.<\/p>\n<p>Seeking justice for oppressed Muslims means fighting for their freedom, safety, and\u00a0 rights. Compare this to revenge, which better explains why some da&#8217;ees fight the people they are -ideally- inviting to Islam.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The following bright yellow images in this article are all composites of common -and actual- titles in these Dirty Da&#8217;wah videos, and there are many, many more like them.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-85386 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/muslimmatters.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/He-Cursed-Allah.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"690\" height=\"388\" srcset=\"https:\/\/muslimmatters.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/He-Cursed-Allah.png 690w, https:\/\/muslimmatters.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/He-Cursed-Allah-300x169.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px\" \/><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>\u201cO believers! Do not insult what they invoke besides Allah or they will insult Allah spitefully out of ignorance. This is how We have made each people\u2019s deeds appealing to them. Then to their Lord is their return, and He will inform them of what they used to do.\u201d<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/quran.com\/6\/108\">The Holy Qur&#8217;an, Surah Al An&#8217;am: 6;108]<\/a><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>Ridiculing And A Bit Racist<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In one such video, a Muslim da\u2019ee mocks the accent and grammar of a non-Muslim who speaks English as a second language, much to the amusement of the Muslims gathered around him. The video starts in the middle of what looks like da&#8217;wah gone horribly wrong. It begins with a non-Muslim angrily calling out to the Muslims gathered around him. They are crowded around him laughing as he is being mocked.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>[Non Muslim]:<\/strong> \u201cIf you want to hear many times -\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>[Da&#8217;ee]:<\/strong> \u201cI have many hairs.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>[Non Muslim]:<\/strong> \u201cI will hear-\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>[Da&#8217;ee]:<\/strong> \u201cYou have hair, I have hair.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>[Non Muslim]: <\/strong><em>(gesturing with hand)<\/em> \u201cI will give you &#8211; I will give you this insight many times. Don\u2019t follow the pagan religion.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>[Da&#8217;ee]: <\/strong><em>(gesturing with hand)<\/em> \u201cThis in Hindi means I want to eat.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>[Non Muslim]:<\/strong> \u201cWorship Jesus.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>[Da&#8217;ee]: <\/strong><em>(making hand gesture)<\/em> &#8220;In Italian it means something else.&#8221;\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">[Video captioned by Da&#8217;ee to read: \u201cIt means WTF.\u201d]<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>[Non Muslim]: <\/strong>&#8220;Allah is &#8211; Allah is fail.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>[Da&#8217;ee]: <\/strong><em>(interrupting)<\/em> &#8220;Your English is fail.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>[Non Muslim]:<\/strong> &#8220;Allah is fail-&#8220;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>[Da&#8217;ee]: <\/strong><em>(interrupting)<\/em> &#8220;Your grammar is fail.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>[Non Muslim]:<\/strong> &#8220;Shame on you. Shame on you to be a encyclopedia here. Shame on you.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>[Da&#8217;ee]: <\/strong><em>(interrupting) <\/em>&#8220;What\u2019s an encyclopedia got to do with grammar?&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>[Non Muslim]:<\/strong> &#8220;Shame on you to be a encyclopedia, correcting my English here.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>[Da&#8217;ee]:<\/strong> &#8220;Encyclopedia doesn\u2019t correct English uncle.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>[Non Muslim]:<\/strong> &#8220;So shame on you by talking this. Let the people judge who is wrong. <em>Akhlaq<\/em> (good character) is our weapon in such places. May Allah <img decoding=\"async\" title=\"sub\u1e25\u0101nahu wa ta'\u0101la (glorified and exalted be He)\" alt=\"sub\u1e25\u0101nahu wa ta'\u0101la (glorified and exalted be He)\" class=\"islamic_graphic\" src=\"https:\/\/muslimmatters.org\/wp-content\/plugins\/islamic-graphics\/img\/black\/png\/swt.png\" width=\"20px\" height=\"20px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/muslimmatters.org\/wp-content\/plugins\/islamic-graphics\/img\/black\/svg\/swt.svg\"> guide us all.&#8221;<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cSalam, seen this video and wasn&#8217;t pleased with the behavior of our brothers&#8230; this guy may not know much about Islam\u00a0 and may criticize our faith, but if we retaliate with ridicule then it shines a negative light upon us as individuals or maybe so as an Ummah.&#8221;\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;&#8230;you guys are popular YouTubers and need to behave in such a way that our youths emanate your positive behaviors.. sorry to criticize especially publicly (don&#8217;t know how to send privately) but I felt that it could have been handled more sensibly. Best way to deal with situations like that is refer back to the Sunnah&#8230;&#8221;<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-85400 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/muslimmatters.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Shut-up-Scum.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"691\" height=\"388\" srcset=\"https:\/\/muslimmatters.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Shut-up-Scum.png 691w, https:\/\/muslimmatters.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Shut-up-Scum-300x168.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 691px) 100vw, 691px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>So, What Would Our Prophet \ufdfa Do?<\/h2>\n<p>Believe it or not, there are instances from the Sunnah in which a group of people are found mocking, ridiculing, and talking over someone in a deliberately disrespectful manner. It happened more often than you think, but this isn&#8217;t what the Prophet \ufdfa did to debate with the Quraysh. This was what the Quraysh did to the Prophet \ufdfa instead.<\/p>\n<p>How much sense does it make to try and promote the message of the Prophet \ufdfa with the same bullying tactics that were used against him? In what way is surrounding a non-believer with a group of hecklers any type of da&#8217;wah?<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s not.<\/p>\n<p>We have lessons from our Prophet \ufdfa (as compared to his enemies) that give us very specific examples of how to respond to aggressive, disrespectful, or insulting non-Muslims. Story time!<\/p>\n<h3>Pray For Them, Even If They Hate You<\/h3>\n<p>Abu Jahl, in an evil little nutshell, was called the Fir&#8217;aun of Makkah. He beat and tortured people when they accepted Islam, especially those too weak, too poor, or too unimportant for others to protect. He tortured the sahabi husband and wife Yasir <img decoding=\"async\" title=\"ra\u1e0dyAll\u0101hu 'anhu (may All\u0101h be pleased with him)\" alt=\"ra\u1e0dyAll\u0101hu 'anhu (may All\u0101h be pleased with him)\" class=\"islamic_graphic\" src=\"https:\/\/muslimmatters.org\/wp-content\/plugins\/islamic-graphics\/img\/black\/png\/ranhu.png\" width=\"20px\" height=\"20px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/muslimmatters.org\/wp-content\/plugins\/islamic-graphics\/img\/black\/svg\/ranhu.svg\"> and Sumayya <img decoding=\"async\" title=\"ra\u1e0dyAll\u0101hu 'anha (may All\u0101h be pleased with her)\" alt=\"ra\u1e0dyAll\u0101hu 'anha (may All\u0101h be pleased with her)\" class=\"islamic_graphic\" src=\"https:\/\/muslimmatters.org\/wp-content\/plugins\/islamic-graphics\/img\/black\/png\/ranha.png\" width=\"20px\" height=\"20px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/muslimmatters.org\/wp-content\/plugins\/islamic-graphics\/img\/black\/svg\/ranha.svg\"> to death in front of their son, Ammar Bin Yasir <img decoding=\"async\" title=\"ra\u1e0dyAll\u0101hu 'anhu (may All\u0101h be pleased with him)\" alt=\"ra\u1e0dyAll\u0101hu 'anhu (may All\u0101h be pleased with him)\" class=\"islamic_graphic\" src=\"https:\/\/muslimmatters.org\/wp-content\/plugins\/islamic-graphics\/img\/black\/png\/ranhu.png\" width=\"20px\" height=\"20px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/muslimmatters.org\/wp-content\/plugins\/islamic-graphics\/img\/black\/svg\/ranhu.svg\">, may Allah <img decoding=\"async\" title=\"sub\u1e25\u0101nahu wa ta'\u0101la (glorified and exalted be He)\" alt=\"sub\u1e25\u0101nahu wa ta'\u0101la (glorified and exalted be He)\" class=\"islamic_graphic\" src=\"https:\/\/muslimmatters.org\/wp-content\/plugins\/islamic-graphics\/img\/black\/png\/swt.png\" width=\"20px\" height=\"20px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/muslimmatters.org\/wp-content\/plugins\/islamic-graphics\/img\/black\/svg\/swt.svg\"> have mercy and blessings on them all.<\/p>\n<p>While Sumayya <img decoding=\"async\" title=\"ra\u1e0dyAll\u0101hu 'anha (may All\u0101h be pleased with her)\" alt=\"ra\u1e0dyAll\u0101hu 'anha (may All\u0101h be pleased with her)\" class=\"islamic_graphic\" src=\"https:\/\/muslimmatters.org\/wp-content\/plugins\/islamic-graphics\/img\/black\/png\/ranha.png\" width=\"20px\" height=\"20px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/muslimmatters.org\/wp-content\/plugins\/islamic-graphics\/img\/black\/svg\/ranha.svg\"> has the honor of being the first martyr in Islam, Abu Jahl has the dishonor of making her so. He thrust a spear through her private parts and killed her.<\/p>\n<p>In spite of this, the Prophet <img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\u1e63allall\u0101hu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of All\u0101h be upon him)\" alt=\"\u1e63allall\u0101hu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of All\u0101h be upon him)\" class=\"islamic_graphic\" src=\"https:\/\/muslimmatters.org\/wp-content\/plugins\/islamic-graphics\/img\/black\/png\/saw.png\" width=\"20px\" height=\"20px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/muslimmatters.org\/wp-content\/plugins\/islamic-graphics\/img\/black\/svg\/saw.svg\"> still prayed for Abu Jahl to become Muslim. In the same dua&#8217;, he also prayed for the conversion of Abu Jahl&#8217;s nephew, a harsh, hard-drinking, relentless persecutor of Muslims in Makkah, and especially in his own tribe.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"iYorzRPIJM\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/muslimmatters.org\/2010\/10\/11\/islamophobia-is-stupid-part-i\/\">Islamophobia is Stupid: Part I<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;Islamophobia is Stupid: Part I&#8221; &#8212; MuslimMatters.org\" src=\"https:\/\/muslimmatters.org\/2010\/10\/11\/islamophobia-is-stupid-part-i\/embed\/#?secret=wkypx8qld5#?secret=iYorzRPIJM\" data-secret=\"iYorzRPIJM\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The day after the Prophet <img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\u1e63allall\u0101hu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of All\u0101h be upon him)\" alt=\"\u1e63allall\u0101hu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of All\u0101h be upon him)\" class=\"islamic_graphic\" src=\"https:\/\/muslimmatters.org\/wp-content\/plugins\/islamic-graphics\/img\/black\/png\/saw.png\" width=\"20px\" height=\"20px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/muslimmatters.org\/wp-content\/plugins\/islamic-graphics\/img\/black\/svg\/saw.svg\"> made this dua&#8217;, Abu Jahl&#8217;s nephew left his home with his sword in hand, intending the kill the Prophet <img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\u1e63allall\u0101hu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of All\u0101h be upon him)\" alt=\"\u1e63allall\u0101hu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of All\u0101h be upon him)\" class=\"islamic_graphic\" src=\"https:\/\/muslimmatters.org\/wp-content\/plugins\/islamic-graphics\/img\/black\/png\/saw.png\" width=\"20px\" height=\"20px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/muslimmatters.org\/wp-content\/plugins\/islamic-graphics\/img\/black\/svg\/saw.svg\"> went to give his shahaada instead.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u201cO Allah, strengthen Islam with Abu Jahl or Umar Ibn Al-Khattab.\u201d &#8211; Tirmidhi<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Yes, it was THAT Umar <img decoding=\"async\" title=\"ra\u1e0dyAll\u0101hu 'anhu (may All\u0101h be pleased with him)\" alt=\"ra\u1e0dyAll\u0101hu 'anhu (may All\u0101h be pleased with him)\" class=\"islamic_graphic\" src=\"https:\/\/muslimmatters.org\/wp-content\/plugins\/islamic-graphics\/img\/black\/png\/ranhu.png\" width=\"20px\" height=\"20px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/muslimmatters.org\/wp-content\/plugins\/islamic-graphics\/img\/black\/svg\/ranhu.svg\">, legendary defender of Islam and second khalifah in the Muslim Ummah. Before his conversion, he had been one of the biggest enemies of Islam in Makkah. He had the authority and power to respond in any way, but he didn&#8217;t rebuke them. Instead, he rebuked his wife. <em>\u201cOh Aisha, be gentle. Indeed, Allah <img decoding=\"async\" title=\"sub\u1e25\u0101nahu wa ta'\u0101la (glorified and exalted be He)\" alt=\"sub\u1e25\u0101nahu wa ta'\u0101la (glorified and exalted be He)\" class=\"islamic_graphic\" src=\"https:\/\/muslimmatters.org\/wp-content\/plugins\/islamic-graphics\/img\/black\/png\/swt.png\" width=\"20px\" height=\"20px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/muslimmatters.org\/wp-content\/plugins\/islamic-graphics\/img\/black\/svg\/swt.svg\"> is gentle and loves gentleness in all matters. While he came to negotiate terms on their behalf, he was insulting and offensive to the Prophet <img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\u1e63allall\u0101hu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of All\u0101h be upon him)\" alt=\"\u1e63allall\u0101hu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of All\u0101h be upon him)\" class=\"islamic_graphic\" src=\"https:\/\/muslimmatters.org\/wp-content\/plugins\/islamic-graphics\/img\/black\/png\/saw.png\" width=\"20px\" height=\"20px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/muslimmatters.org\/wp-content\/plugins\/islamic-graphics\/img\/black\/svg\/saw.svg\">. In addition to that, he was also one of the chiefs of the same tribe that sent a mob to throw stones at the Prophet \ufdfa in Taif until he bled into his shoes.<\/p>\n<p>On top of that, he reached out to grab the Prophet \ufdfa by the beard, causing the companions around the Prophet <img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\u1e63allall\u0101hu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of All\u0101h be upon him)\" alt=\"\u1e63allall\u0101hu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of All\u0101h be upon him)\" class=\"islamic_graphic\" src=\"https:\/\/muslimmatters.org\/wp-content\/plugins\/islamic-graphics\/img\/black\/png\/saw.png\" width=\"20px\" height=\"20px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/muslimmatters.org\/wp-content\/plugins\/islamic-graphics\/img\/black\/svg\/saw.svg\"> to draw their weapons. They Prophet \ufdfa ordered them to stand down, and as was customary, Urwa was still hosted as a guest and ambassador of the Quraysh. His entire character was that of honor, nobility, and dignity. The preacher&#8217;s chief aim should be to appeal to the addressee&#8217;s heart, convey the truth to him and bring him to the right path.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;He should not fight like a wrestler whose only object is to defeat his opponent. Allah <img decoding=\"async\" title=\"sub\u1e25\u0101nahu wa ta'\u0101la (glorified and exalted be He)\" alt=\"sub\u1e25\u0101nahu wa ta'\u0101la (glorified and exalted be He)\" class=\"islamic_graphic\" src=\"https:\/\/muslimmatters.org\/wp-content\/plugins\/islamic-graphics\/img\/black\/png\/swt.png\" width=\"20px\" height=\"20px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/muslimmatters.org\/wp-content\/plugins\/islamic-graphics\/img\/black\/svg\/swt.svg\">uses the word \u0638\u064e\u0644\u064e\u0645\u064f\u0648\u0627\u06df, which German Arabist Hans Wehr defines as &#8220;to do wrong or evil, to wrong, treat unjustly, ill-treat, oppress, beset, harm, suppress, tyrannize, commit outrage, to act the tyrant,&#8221; etc.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The noun itself &#8211; what the oppressor does &#8211; is defined as &#8220;wrong, iniquity, injustice, inequity, unfairness, oppression, repression, suppression, tyranny.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>So, if a person disagrees with your faith, interrupts you, calls you rude names, and makes fun of what you say &#8211; is that person an oppressor? Thank God they&#8217;re not, because lots of our da&#8217;ees would qualify for that label as well.\u00a0 Rude people are just rude people. Unless someone wrongs you, be civil or be quiet as Allah <img decoding=\"async\" title=\"sub\u1e25\u0101nahu wa ta'\u0101la (glorified and exalted be He)\" alt=\"sub\u1e25\u0101nahu wa ta'\u0101la (glorified and exalted be He)\" class=\"islamic_graphic\" src=\"https:\/\/muslimmatters.org\/wp-content\/plugins\/islamic-graphics\/img\/black\/png\/swt.png\" width=\"20px\" height=\"20px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/muslimmatters.org\/wp-content\/plugins\/islamic-graphics\/img\/black\/svg\/swt.svg\"> and the Prophet <img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\u1e63allall\u0101hu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of All\u0101h be upon him)\" alt=\"\u1e63allall\u0101hu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of All\u0101h be upon him)\" class=\"islamic_graphic\" src=\"https:\/\/muslimmatters.org\/wp-content\/plugins\/islamic-graphics\/img\/black\/png\/saw.png\" width=\"20px\" height=\"20px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/muslimmatters.org\/wp-content\/plugins\/islamic-graphics\/img\/black\/svg\/saw.svg\"> commanded us to.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Prophet (\ufdfa) said, &#8220;He who believes in Allah and the Last Day must either speak good or remain silent.&#8221; Muslim, <a href=\"https:\/\/sunnah.com\/riyadussalihin:1511\">[Riyad As-Saaliheen]<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-85390 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/muslimmatters.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Offensive-Comments.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"687\" height=\"390\" srcset=\"https:\/\/muslimmatters.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Offensive-Comments.png 687w, https:\/\/muslimmatters.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Offensive-Comments-300x170.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 687px) 100vw, 687px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If going to war seems a bit much for the people who yell at a da&#8217;wah booth, then you get the point. This verse of the Quran does not give Muslims the permission to verbally abuse non-Muslims, it gives us permission to go from words to swords if\/when oppression happens and confrontation (versus civil discussion) is necessary to stop an ongoing injustice.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our scholars have written extensively on how to interact with non-Muslims that we are calling to Islam. The gist of it is that we have good manners, gentle speech, and the best of intentions towards those we are addressing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After all, the purpose of da&#8217;wah is not the victory of the da&#8217;ee, it is the betterment of the person being addressed.
